Cheche

Sparks of Acapella

With their rich, arresting harmonies and an energetic stage show Che Che as one of the liveliest new features of the East African music scene. The seven-member all male Acapella group took the name (meaning sparks) in 1998 when they formed the group.

All of the members had been singing with various church and government choirs for several years before they finally met as members of the Agricultural finance choir. Driven by a passion to make music their livelihood they started the group adapting folksongs from all over Kenya to their Acapella arrangement style. Accompanied mainly by clapping and foot stamping, the group rapidly became popular for the dynamism of their performance and the freshness of their music.

The group came to Sarakasi Trust in 2002 after winning a nation wide talent search contest and was selected to be their pioneering artistes for their Sawa Sawa Fair Trade Music Label initiative.

The group members include Ken Ndayala (Baritone), Armstrong Alulu Lumadede (Baritone), Walter Analo (First Tenor), Aggrey Munai Lugalia (Second Tenor), Grenus M'mbanga Shishinya (Second Tenor), John Kanali Kibienda (Bass) and Kenneth Musungu Mukasya (Bass).

Cheche is a well established group with wide potential appeal with a mature audience.
