JMISarakasi believes that music is a vital part of a healthy society. The last decades in Kenya have seen the decline of the quality of music. There is great concern that without an active programme to support the opportunities for Kenyan musicians to be creative, to enhance their music skills and understanding of the modern music industry, the rich musical talent will die. From August 2007 Kenya will be a member of the JMI network. JMI (Jeunesses Musicale International) a non-profit worldwide network for youth and music. JMI is regarded by UNESCO as the most important youth culture organisation in the world and is one of the largest cultural organisations in the world. With the help of JMI Sarakasi will aim to provide opportunities for development in music by providing training, performing and exchange opportunities. We will keep you posted on upcoming activities. |
